Seniors Supplement

As of September 20 2009, the Federal Government introduced a new allowance for pensioners to replace a range of allowances that were paid for the cost of the GST, utilities, telephone and medicines.

You qualify for the Seniors Supplement if you hold a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card and are a permanent resident of Australia.

The rate of Seniors Supplement is:

single customers - $785.20 per annum, paid at rate of $196.30 per quarter
partnered customers - $592.80 per annum, paid at rate of $148.20 each per quarter
illness separated, respite care or partner in gaol - $785.20 per annum, paid at rate of $196.30 per quarter.

The Seniors Supplement is paid quarterly, soon after 20 March, 20 June, 20 September and 20 December each year.
