If you find it difficult to see text or images on your favourite websites, an easy solution is at hand. The browser that you use to access the internet will allow you to zoom in on the pages you are looking at. This will allow you to read articles and examine photos at your level of comfort. The instructions below detail how to achieve this on each popular browser.
SeniorSpace recommends that you use Firefox or Safari as your internet browser. We consider these browsers to be faster, more stable and easier to use than Internet Explorer.
Firefox
If you do not have Firefox, you can download the latest version for free here.
To zoom in on web pages, select View from the menu bar and click on Zoom from the drop down menu. You can then click on Zoom In, Zoom Out or Zoom Text Only, a very handy feature. Alternatively, you can hold down the control key and press + (the plus key) to zoom in and – (the minus key) to zoom out. Holding down the Control key and pressing 0 will reset the page back to its original size.
With the mouse, you can hold down the Control key and scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in and out of the page.
Safari
If you do not have Safari, you can download the latest version for free here.
Safari's keyboard controls work mostly the same way as Firefox's.
Internet Explorer
If you do not have the latest version of Internet Explorer, you can download it for free here.
To zoom in on web pages, click on the magnifying glass in the bottom right hand corner of the Internet Explorer window with your mouse. You can also click on the arrow next to the magnifying glass and choose from the options listed.
You can also zoom in or out with your keyboard. Hold down the Control key and press + (the plus key) to zoom in and – (the minus key) to zoom out.
