Art Gallery of South Australia

Located on Adelaide's North Terrace, the Gallery contains over 35,000 works of art in a building dating back to 1900. It has notable collections of Indigenous and colonial Australian art, as well as European, Middle Eastern and Asian works.

Normal opening hours are 10am – 5pm. General admission is free.

John Brack

John Brack (1920-1999) was a master at representing modern Australian life. While most of his colleagues at the time were focusing on myth and history focused on the bush, he was busy painting urban landscapes. His ability to present complex thoughts and ideas through the iconography of the everyday was grounded in an awareness and appreciation of art history. This major retrospective covers all of his major paintings, oil paintings, watercolours, prints, pen, ink and pencil drawings and etchings. It is the first time this great artist’s work has been staged in such a fashion in Adelaide.

On display 2 October – 26 January. Paid entry.

South Australian Museum

Situated on Adelaide's North Terrace next to the Art Gallery of South Australia, the Museum has six floors of exhibits on offer. There are extensive Aboriginal and Pacific collections, and an ancient Egyptian room.

ANZANG Nature Photography Exhibit

On display are the finalists and winners of the annual photography competition that calls for amazing shots from the regions of Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica and New Guinea.

On display 2 October – 22 November. Free entry.
